How do you organise a coffee meetup to make friends?

Updated · 2 min read

For a coffee meetup with women you do not know yet, choose a public café, an expected finishing time and a group that fits around one table. Clear costs and a confirmation method keep the invitation from becoming an endless chat.

How do you choose a venue without overpromising?

Look for somewhere you can reach and leave easily. Confirm directly whether it can accommodate the group, takes bookings and has minimum-order conditions. Ask about access, seating and noise when a participant needs that information. Do not advertise accessibility or dietary options without checking. A reserved table does not mean the café is organising your meetup.

What should the invitation say?

Adapt this example: “Coffee to meet women in the neighbourhood. Saturday [date], 5–6 pm, at [café and public address]. Four spots in total, including me. Everyone pays for their own order. You can come alone. Confirm in this group before Friday; let us know if you cannot make it.” Replace every placeholder before sending. The cost is not zero just because you do not charge for organising.

How can you structure a one-hour meetup?

TimeSuggestion
First 10 minutesArrive, order and introduce yourselves
Next 35 minutesTalk about interests and neighbourhood activities
Final 15 minutesPay and ask whether anyone wants to meet again

This agenda is a suggestion, not a rule. Someone who can only stay half an hour can say so beforehand. Do not use introductions to request intimate details. “What activity would you like to try around here?” allows different answers and can help shape the next meetup.

How do you handle payment and absences?

When everyone orders something different, paying individually is often simpler. Split a bill equally only when everyone agreed beforehand. If the café requires a deposit, explain who pays it and what happens after a cancellation; do not invent charges afterwards. Update an empty spot without publishing the personal reason for someone’s absence.

Frequently asked questions

How many people should I invite?

You can start with four spots including the organiser for a first coffee meetup. This is a practical example, not a required size or a guarantee of good conversation.

Do I have to pay for everyone?

No. Explain beforehand whether each person pays for her own order. If you are paying or there is a shared expense, say exactly what is covered.

Can I create this coffee meetup in LoopClub?

Plan creation is implemented in the project, but the app is still in development and is not publicly available in the app stores.

Where LoopClub fits

LoopClub is in development and is not available in the app stores yet. It is designed for women aged 18+ in Buenos Aires: plans by neighbourhood and interests, identity verification and group chat. You can already use this website’s guides. We cannot guarantee friendships, attendance or safety at a meetup.
