For you
How do you start making friends after moving to Buenos Aires?
Updated · 2 min read
If you have just arrived in Buenos Aires, start with an area you can reach easily and an activity you can repeat. You do not need to know the whole city before inviting someone: a specific first meetup in a public place is enough to begin.
What should you decide before finding a group?
Separate what you want from what you can sustain. You may want to explore many areas, but your week may allow only an hour near home or work. Choose an activity, a time window and a comfortable expense. Naming a neighbourhood is enough; do not share a home address to prove you live there. If you are learning Spanish, ask which languages the group uses.
How can you plan a first social week?
- Choose an activity that welcomes newcomers and check its arrangements.
- Confirm a public meetup and check your journey there and back.
- Bring a simple question about the activity, without requiring yourself to make a friend that day.
- If you want to repeat it, suggest a specific date and ask whether others are interested.
What changes if you are visiting temporarily?
Say how long you will be around when it helps coordination, without giving accommodation details. Choose plans that allow one-time attendance and avoid promising a whole series. A resident may prefer recurring meetups; explain your availability without expecting her to rearrange her routine.
Where does a neighbourhood app fit?
LoopClub is in development for women aged 18+ in Buenos Aires. The project supports choosing a neighbourhood and interests and joining plans; that does not guarantee an active group in every area at launch. For now, use these guides to organise independently.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know every neighbourhood?
No. Start with an area you can reach and revisit. Expand later without turning every meetup into a long journey.
Can I go alone as a newcomer?
Ask whether the group welcomes newcomers. Confirm the location and coordination before leaving; you do not need to bring a friend to introduce yourself.
Does this website organise newcomer meetups?
No. It publishes resources. LoopClub is not in the stores yet and this page is neither a calendar nor a booking.
